This Thursday, September 6th we will be having our Open House and Title 1 School meeting.  Our Media Center will be holding a Scholastic Book Fair, and will be open for families to shop from 3:00pm to 6:00pm.  At 6:00, parents and families will go to their child’s classroom for Open House and the Title 1 School meeting.  We look forward to seeing everyone there, and look forward to a successful school year.

Survey for Parents of Students with an Individualized Education Plan (IEP) in Exceptional Student Education (ESE)

The Florida Department of Education is conducting its 2011-2012 parent survey designed to provide the state with information on how well schools are supporting parents’ involvement in their child’s education.  Under the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA), states must report this information to the federal government on an annual basis.  The responses to the survey provide important information for planning and monitoring improvement activities.  This survey, conducted only once a year, provides parents with a unique opportunity to be heard.

Survey results are reported to the United States Department of Education, Office of Special Education Programs, as part of Florida’s Annual Performance Report and are posted on the Florida Department of Education’s website at www.fldoe.org/ese.

The survey will be available online from February 1 through June 30, 2012 to all parents of children with IEP’S in preschool to 12^th grade. (Note: This survey is not for parents whose students are in the gifted programs.)

Don’t forget that 4th graders will be taking the FCAT Writes! writing test tomorrow morning. Make sure students get a good nights sleep and a good breakfast so they will be feeling good, alert and ready to tackle the “Cat.”
